The Contemplary presents a dialogue with feminist Buddhist nun, Ayya Yeshe, on the socially engaged path to spiritual freedom.
Ayya Yeshe will reflect upon her own experience of trying to reconcile the different cultural values of the Buddhist path in Asia and the emerging dharma of the West.
In conversation with the audience and facilitated by Laura Harris, Nepal Program Manager for the Global Women’s Project, Ayya Yeshe will talk about the connection between social justice and spirituality, tackling issues of patriarchy and hierarchy in Buddhism and the problem of the commodification of modern mindfulness.
Participate in this special dialogue on the power of meditation and social action, overcoming patriarchal spirituality and finding liberation in compassionate engaged practice.
